Fitzgerald's bar is put up for auction and local Brian Quigley aspires to buy the bar. Bella Mooney, local entrepreneur has big plans to turn the bar into a brasserie. A breezy young woman, Orla O'Connell, comes to town looking for her brother, Aidan, the new priest, but nobody knows where he is. At the auction, there is a monumental bidding tussle for Fitzgerald's, who will be the new owner?

The village has a new priest, Father Aidan but everyone questions the miracle her uses to cure bedridden Mary Cummins. Niamh and her father, Brian Quigley disagree over his plans to redevelop the bar. Niamh walks out on her father after an argument and he's left to renovate pub single-handedly. Foxes invade Eamonn's farm the regnant local vet, Siobhan must look after more than she bargained for.

Siobhan is expecting and everyone has an opinion about her controversial plans for a water birth. Dillon and Emma, his 16-year-old daughter from England quarrel Niamh gets caught up in it and gets his car stolen in the process. Quigley has a strange dream and enlists Orla's help to interpret it. After 10 years in a monastery Father Aidan is forced to learn the value of money.

Brian Quigley's dreams of owning the perfect golf and partnerships form recent lotto winner and golf fanatic Mickey "Tonto" Keeler. Siobhan and Brendan feud over their daughter's christening and Father Aidan must save the day. A mysterious horseman rides into town looking for Eamon. Sean Dillon tells Emma about his plans for the family's old farm.

Donal piques his neighbors interest stepping out with his new companion, a former circus bear, that runs amok and corners Quigley in the bar. Eventually Father Aidan manages to tame the wild beast. Kevin O'Kelly secretly helps Dillon to restore a motorbike, if his father knew. Padraig O'Kelly is indeed furious when he discovers that his son has befriended his arch enemy, Brendan.

Everyone heads to the beach for the annual horse race, usually won by Dr Ryan. But is challenged by Danny's Razor. Padraig invites Orla O'Connell to stay at his house and gets the wrong idea about their relationship. Kevin is appalled at his father's behavior. Quigley's golf course sponsors the horse race but he finds that he and his new partner Keeler can't agree on anything

Despite an injury Danny steals back Razor and rides to freedom while injuring himself more. Quigley and Keeler throw a grand opening to attract members to the golf club and both try to outwit each other to get their own way and attract the right sort of members. Orla O'Connell and Niamh spend the day stocktaking in the pub. They obliquely talk about Dillon and whether Orla is interested in him.

An ancient carving is discovered on Dillon's farm and everyone has a different interpretation of what the carving means. Things don't go well for Padraig O'Kelly and begins to drink heavily. A satellite dish installed on the pub delivers not the promised football but episodes of an Argentinean soap opera, on which the bar regulars all become hooked.

Father MacAnally is visited by his old friend, Henry, now a well-known African bishop who is being promoted to the Vatican. Love blossoms when Danny and Emma get stranded on a mountainside together by bad weather. When Niamh comforts Dillon over his missing daughter, she realizes she has overstepped the mark.

Veterinary surgeon Siobhan Mehigan and schoolteacher Brendan Kearney plan a secret marriage decide to get married with the help of Father Aidan, but word gets out and Niamh plans a surprise wedding reception. Farmer Eamon Byrne has an accident while out with his sheep and after a search ensues is found by his enemy, Sean Dillon.

There is tension between Niamh and Ambrose when she leaves with the baby after an outing on the lake. Brian Quigley realizes that his marriage might be in trouble after advising Ambrose on what to do with Niamh. Donal plots to recover golf balls from a lake on the golf course but the lake is deeper than he thought and he has to employ more and more elaborate devices to find the elusive balls.

Niamh is honest with Sean Dillon and realizes that she's made a fool of herself when Ambrose is upset about the exchange. Dillon's farm is badly damaged by a storm and it's the last straw for the beleaguered Dillon, who decides he's leaving. Everyone must come together to change his mind. A celebration ensues with a mood of reconciliation, old enemies make up and travellers return.
