Wild Bear Rescue

During the shelter's longest snowiest winter ever, one cub loses half its foot, while the shyest cub battles the greediest for her dinner. The shelters' moose calves are bullied by large adult moose and hounded by predators. Then one of the moose calves goes missing.

In early spring, Angelika and Peter take two aggressive but close-knit bear siblings to Haida Gwaii for a dramatic boat release. Back in Smithers, Kim partners with conservation officers to rescue cubs, whose mothers have become 'problem bears'.

Timmy, a yearling that escaped five months ago, is captured and reunited with his two siblings. But his brother's swollen face requires urgent care before all three siblings can be freed. Meanwhile, new volunteer Eli worries about Summit, a small shy cub, that's introduced to two rough and tumble cubs.

Tanja rescues two fragile newborn moose calves and then another moose calf arrives with bad bite wounds. He appears healthy and strong, until a mysterious illness starts attacking his muscles. Brawling yearlings, Yukon and his brother Taku, stick up for one another in the bear pen - but when released it's each bear for himself.

Tanja's parents are away and she's on a remote bear release when she learns one of the shelter's bears has just escaped. A conservation officer must risk the bear's life trying to re-capture it, so it can be taken to a proper release site and be freed with its sibling.

Angelika and Peter are away and Tanja needs to release three of their rowdiest yearling cubs. She's not licensed to tranquilize bears, so must try to lure them into transport boxes. Meanwhile Kim tries to keep a moose named Dante alive, although he has the exact symptoms of another moose calf that just died of an incurable disease.

Chinook, a yearling that's lost half her foot, is tormented by bully bears. She must stand up for itself, before she can be released. Tanja tries to catch a cornered cub - and later tries to save a fawn with two broken legs.

Buoyed by the Sophie's incredible recovery and successful release, Angelika takes on another long-shot - Phoebe, a bear with ailments very similar to Sophie's. Meanwhile, Kane, the fawn with two broken legs, is struggling to get back up on his feet and join the herd.

Digger, a yearling with a serious nerve disorder is now able to walk, but he can't be released until he can climb. Volunteers try to encourage him to climb, so he can be released with his big sister Kelleeka. Grumpy Smurf the elk, has a broken shoulder, but is kept in solitary until he learns to get along.

Leto, the last yearling to be released, is underweight but won't eat. Volunteer Sally must help Leto gain thirty-four pounds in just three weeks before she can be set free. Otters Buddy and Honey also need to be freed, but they first must learn to catch their own fish.

New cub Renny hides in the cub pen atop a pole, too afraid to come down and eat, while the bully-cub Dion lurks below. To survive, Renny must summon all his courage to challenge Dion. In Mackenzie, BC, Angelika and Peter try to rescue three orphaned cubs high in the tree-tops. They recruit a local arborist and hope for the best.

For the first time, Angelika risks expensive surgery on a bear, to pin together a serious leg break - although there's no guarantee the leg will heal. A new cub named Henry lashes out at everything. But when he's moved into the big pen with the other bears, he must learn to get along or risk a cold, lonely winter hibernating on his own.
