In the18th century, cartographer Jonathan Green undertakes a scientific voyage from Europe to the East. He finds a small village lost in woods whose inhabitants have dug a moat to defend themselves from the outside world. Guided by a belief that they can save themselves from evil, they fail to understand that evil has nestled in their souls and is waiting to gush out upon the world.
