Mox Moxon (James Van der Beek) is happy staying on the bench and out of the limelight when he plays for his high-school football team. However, when the star quarterback is injured, he is thrust onto the pitch and into direct conflict with the all-or-nothing attitude of the coach (Jon Voight). He soon learns that popularity is fleeting compared to the genuine respect of family and friends.
