With her two families living at either end of the freeway and opposite sides of the class spectrum, Bess tries to fuse them with varying levels of success. As they face new challenges—moving houses, illnesses and injuries, relationships ending and beginning—the differences between the Brights and the Wheelers appear starker than ever, and Bess is caught in the middle.
