Sisters

Chiara is a brilliant lawyer with a happy life in Rome, where she moved following a rift with her family in Matera, in southern Italy. But the mysterious disappearance of her younger sister, Elena, forces her to return home and deal with the complicated relationships she left behind.

The body that was found is identified as Elena’s, but how she died remains a mystery. The most plausible explanation seems to be suicide, but Chiara does not believe it. Wanting to find out what happened to her sister, she decides to stay in Matera.

As Elena’s ex-husband, Roberto, languishes in jail, he pleads with Chiara to help him, but their long-ago romance complicates matters. Chiara continues to investigate, and when she receives a tip about one of Elena’s lovers, it points to a new suspect. Meanwhile, Elena’s children have doubts about their father.

Now firmly believing in Roberto’s innocence, Chiara decides to dedicate herself to his defense. She’s determined to shed light on her sister’s death, even as new scenarios emerge about the murder.

When little Giulio has an accident at school and needs a blood transfusion, Chiara and Daniele discover that Giulio is not Roberto’s son: he was born from Elena’s relationship with another man.

Looking for Giulio’s real father, Chiara and Daniele come across the name of Martino Siniscalchi, the deputy mayor of Potenza. When the DNA test confirms their suspicions, the sisters try to find out more about the man and his affair with Elena.
