Set against a village backdrop, a ruthless cop shoots few culprits, which leads to an uproar among the villagers. An inquiry is ordered on the behavior of the police officer. The officer in charge, tries to learn the history of the village and its people, who live by their own rules. What he learns about the villagers and the story of their leader (Kishore) forms the plot of Ranarangam.
