Billy, a streetwise kid from New York City, is sent to a farm in Nebraska and is taken in by the Andersons. Initially, Billy does not fit in, and he clashes with his new family and adopted father. It is not until a terrible crisis occurs that Billy realizes that, for the first time in his life, he truly belongs, and he is "home at last."
