Dr. Wonder's Workshop

Paula's working on something in the lab. A beaker of something is heating up over a burner. She is called away by Billy to help him with something. In the meantime, the beaker boils and foams, and explodes. A cloud goes over everyone leaving orange residue on everyone's face. From that moment everyone is selfish.

Paul has a problem. Every time she turns on the water at the sink in her lab it sprays her in the face. She asks around to find someone to fix the plumbing. Billy claims he can do it. But his solution is silly and doesn't work. It's obvious he knows nothing about plumbing but lied about it because he wanted to impress everyone. The whole staff teaches Billy that lying destroys trust. Pops final...

Situation: Dr. Wonder is getting ready to present a major invention at a convention. He wants to do it all. The other people in the lab are willing to help him, but he doesn’t want their help because he knows they’re involved in other projects. Billy is really excited about entering a model boat in a boat building competition. When he learns that Pops had built an award winning boat for last year's contest, borrows Pops' boat and enters it in the competition. The boat wins first prize, but Paula and Lisa help Billy understand that entering Pops' boat was breaking the rules and just wasn't fair to the others. Billy returns the prize mo...

Lisa has a new desk. She asks Billy to put it together for him. Billy is happy to do it, but he doesn't think he needs to follow the designer's directions, so he tosses them aside.

Dr. Wonder presents a new piece of equipment for the lab - a video camera. Edwin explains that the equipment is very expensive and the lab can't afford for each person to have one so they will all need to share this one. But Billy wants to use it all the time. This causes a problem in the lab and Dr. Wonder has to resolve the issue by teaching Billy how important it is to share.

Situation: Billy loves the Cardinals and they’re in a pennant race. He gets so excited and he just overspends and overspends. He buys more and more and more until his work area is just absolutely overflowing with St. Louis Cardinals stuff. He can’t even work. Resolution: He has to learn a lesson about being satisfied with what he has.

Personal items are disappearing from the lab. Tools or equipment vanish from various workbenches. Later some of these are returned but wind up in a different place. Dr. Wonder investigates and finds that Billy is borrowing things without the permission of the owner. Paula sprays Billy with a formula that will turn him invisible for 30 minutes. Pops and Dr Wonder are working on a surprise -- a new soft drink for the Finger Food Café. Dr. Wonder tells the staff not to go into his office until the project is finished. But one night Lisa goes into his office to straighten it up. She is so thirsty she drinks a green liquid sitting in a beaker on his desk. Her skin turns a bright green! Then Billy comes in and also drinks the liquid. When ...

One of Dr. Wonder's old friends is a magician. Dr. Wonder invites to perform his act for the staff just before he leaves on a trip.

Billy is working on a project and it blows up over and over again. Finally in disgust he looses his temper and smashes several things. Dr. Wonder teaches Billy about anger and helps him to understand how to channel his anger in positive ways. Billy learns how to control his anger and make it work for him, not against him.

There is a terrible thunderstorm and all the lights go out in the lab.

Billy invents a cactus bush that grows beautiful apples, but they taste terrible! In the meantime, Lisa asks Doc how we develop the "fruits of the spirit." When Billy shows up with his cactus, Doc answers both questions: a cactus can't produce tasty apples in poor soil. And if we want to produce spiritual fruit we must put our roots down deep in the good soil of God's word.

Lisa has been saving up money in the company budget to replace her office chair with a fancy new one. But Edwin shows her how the old accounting software is no longer dependable.

Before Lisa arrives for work, Paula tells everyone a funny (but embarrassing) story that happened to Lisa over the weekend. When Lisa arrives, everyone laughs and teases her about it.

Situation: Lisa breaks her leg and Paula breaks her arm. Billy can’t stop teasing and making fun of them. He’s getting a big joke out of it. But then Dr. Wonder points out to Billy that it could happen to him at any time. Billy has a dream and in his dream he sees himself as a quadriplegic in a wheelchair; he can’t move. He talks to himself. Resolution: He learns to be sensitive to others.

Doc, Miguel and Pops are working on a big new electronics project together. Lisa and Edwin are busy, too, working on contracts and marketing for the project. The only person not involved is Paula, because the project doesn't have any chemistry in it. Paula feels left out, working alone in her lab while everyone else is working together. Miguel and Pops haven't worked together all day. Paula has noticed and asks Miguel what's wrong. Miguel explains that they've had a disagreement, but that Miguel apologized, so he's not sure what the problem is anymore. We use flashbacks to see Miguel, Paula, Lisa, and Edwin apologizing in different situations, but each one is missing at least one component of a good apology.

Situation: Billy is rushing through his work quickly, just to get it done. He isn't thinking things through properly or trying to see the results of doing things haphazardly Paula asks him to make a machine to help her clean up chemical spills in the lab. But Billy's machine is put together so badly it is really no help at all. Resolution: Dr. Wonder shows Billy what the consequences can be for...

A hearing chemist from another inventing lab wants to collaborate with Paula on a new formula to reduce pollutants in car exhaust. But Paula is reluctant because of all the extra hassles of working through a sign language interpreters on a complex chemical formula. Situation: Billy decides that he is not happy being Billy. He wants to be Dr. Wonder and have his own lab and everything.

Situation: Paula becomes mean and critical of people.

It’s inventory time and no one wants to do it, so Paula, Miguel and Dr. Wonder play around all day. But in the end Lisa insists they must get back to work and work all night, if needed, until everything has been counted. They all realize that working hard and getting the job done right in the first place is much easier than playing around.

Lisa feels she isn’t making much of a difference at the lab, so Dr. Wonder sends Lisa into the Hologram Room to show her what Dr. Wonder's Workshop would be like if she'd never come to work there.

Situation: One of Paula’s children comes to her; she’s having a problem at school with a bully. Paula tries to give her some good advice. Billy comes up with an idea for an invention to get back at the bully. Resolution: You can’t be mean to the bully. You have to stand up to him/her, but do so in God’s love and strength.
