Eldest daughter Ava is significantly overweight and has recently gained three stone in just nine months In the past Ava suffered from bulimia and has a history of selfharm Ava is a social care student and works part time in a nursing home She has a poor diet smokes and binge drinks most weekends

Deirdre smokes 20 cigarettes a day but thinks they arent doing her any harm She had a health scare four years ago when she went to her doctor with chest pains and was sent straight to the hospital to get tests for her heart It was discovered she had very high blood pressure She was prescribed a high dose of medication but doesnt always remember to take it

After a week of being tested and followed the family is brought to the Consultation Room Aoife and Danny find out they are both obese Aoife is told she has nonalcoholic fatty liver disease Dannys chest xray showed irreversible changes in his lungs due to smoking Aoife feels very guilty when she is told that Jack is significantly iron deficient and almost anemic

After the experts assess the family for a week and carry out tests Fergal and Carole come to the Consultation Room to hear their results They find out they are both obese Fergal learns that he is insulin resistant a step away from type 2 diabetes and he has fatty liver disease Carole discovers her drinking is doing her harm and that she ranks in the bottom 5 for fitness for women of her age
