Jean frantically prepares for her daughter's wedding while Phillippa tries to lift morale.

The girls are excited about the proposed visit of the Duke of Danby. But Stan's met royalty before, so it's only a question of choosing the right toupee. Meanwhile, Bren is put in an awkward position.

Bren's mother Petula causes mayhem in the factory with her ill-considered romance, and her caravan is getting in the way of Stan's work. Meanwhile, a debate reaches an unpredictable climax.

Tony and Bren are happy, but everyone else is in a bad mood. To cheer things up, a tea party is organised for everybody's parents. Unfortunately this includes Bren's wayward mother Petula.

The works' party has a Japenese theme, and Bren's mother decides to invite herself. Meanwhile, Dolly has a fried-food fiasco and Jean makes a less-than-sober play for Tony.

Tony is in hospital, Dolly and Jean walk out objecting to the new manager's abrasive approach, and Bren has to single-handedly run the canteen through the most important night-shift of the year.
