Clangers

The Clangers have been invited to tea by the Iron Chicken, while Granny stays at home to have a rest. They are a bit late leaving as Major Clanger had forgotten they were going, but eventually they are in the music boat and off to the Iron Chicken's nest.

When out fishing in the music boat, Small Clanger catches a sparkly little bag. Back down on the Clangers' planet he shows it to Tiny who is very taken with it, and ask Small if she can keep it. Small doesn't mind at all, so Tiny has it. She puts her panpipes in it - it's just the right size. But when she goes to take them out again, she gets a surprise.

Tiny, Small and Baby Soup Dragon are having a race around the planet. Tiny and Small run as fast as they can, but they are surprised to find that when they get to the finish Baby Soup Dragon is already there. How did that happen? (What they didn't know was that Baby Soup Dragon had cheated!) Baby Soup Dragon wants to play another game - Hide and Seek this time, and inside the planet.

Small is off to do some fishing in the music boat, but before he goes Granny gives him a lovely scarf she has knitted, to keep him warm in space. It is stripy, and the stripes are all the colours of the rainbow. Small likes it and thanks her very much as he sets off. Soon he is up in space and his eye is caught by a shooting star that whizzes past him before it disappears.

Up in the music boat, Small Clanger and Major Clanger spot something glowing in one of the craters on their planet. They land to take a closer look, and find a big bowl of glow honey. Tiny, however, is underground, she notices a lot of activity amongst the glowbuzzers. They are flying in and out of their cave, laden with glow honey.

Tiny and Small are full of energy today, making lots of noise as they rush about through the caves. When they reach the cave with the vertical lake, they get a surprise. They find the froglets sitting quietly and calmly in front of three strange stones which glow blue and emit a humming sound. This is very strange. Froglets are usually noisy and excitable.

Small is helping Major pull his latest invention up on to the surface of the planet. It is a wonderful new rocket with two seats. Small likes it but points out that they have already got the music boat for journeys into space. Major says that this one is for special journeys to extraordinary places. Now he just needs to think of somewhere to go.

Major Clanger is making something in his workshop and he is being very noisy about it. Mother comes up from her garden to ask him to be quieter but he says his work is difficult and sometimes noisy. Rather scornfully he adds that it's not like gardening! Well, now Mother is rather offended. If gardening isn't difficult why don't they swap jobs?

Mother Wol and her three little Wols are visiting the Iron Chicken. Mother Wol wants to know if the Iron Chicken can look after her little Wols for a while, while she goes off to get some things for her new nest. And of course, the Iron Chicken is happy to do so. The little Wols and the Iron Chicken have a fine old time together.

Small is bored. Everyone else is busy with their own things - Tiny is making music, Mother's gardening, Major is inventing. Small decides he'll just have to do something by himself; and he decides to do some drawing. But what to draw? He goes outside. There's a Skymoo in the sky - that would be good to draw.

Tiny is putting on a magic show for Small. She is making froglets appear from a top hat! Small wants to know if she can make anything else appear. Small thanks Tiny but wanders off to do something else. A froglet then tells Tiny that he can make something else appear. And lo and behold, something jumps out of the hat into Tiny's arms.

It's soup time. Major has made a new table, but when the soup mugs are put on the table, it collapses and the soup spills everywhere. Oh dear. Tiny and Small are despatched with the soup trolley to get some more soup while Major and Mother clear up. This time they will use the old table.

The Iron Chicken is on her nest. She sees something - there are three things drifting through space in the shape of a seashell, a spiral cone and a cone. They are very pale. The Iron Chicken is excited - she has seen these things before. She radios Tiny to tell her the news.
