In 1945, an older Anne (Barbara Hershey) returns to Avonlea. During her visit, she agrees to write a play, hoping it will keep her busy enough to keep her mind off her only son, who is fighting in WWII. However, a hidden secret becomes the catalyst for Anne to journey back into the past and revisit her life prior to Green Gables.
