Seth is a boy who lives in the remote village of Pompo Hills. He spends his days training to be a great sorcerer, but he's always messing up.

A group of sorcerers appears in the village and seals the Nemesis's movements. Seth has never met any other sorcerers besides Alma and is immediately taken with them. Hoping to prove that he can be of use too, Seth asks if he can work with them.

No matter how often Alma explains that sorcerers and ordinary humans don't understand each other, Seth just can't accept it. So, to stop people from seeing sorcerers as the bad guys, Seth swears to destroy all the Nemesis.

Seth heads for Artemis Academy to learn more about Radiant. On the way, he runs into Captain Dragunov of the Inquisition, an organization that cracks down on sorcerers. Even though Seth did nothing wrong, he's arrested just for being a sorcerer.

Immediately after arriving in Artemis Academy, Seth decides to take part in the ceremony welcoming new residents to the city. However, the founder of the academy, Master Lord Majesty, ends up saddling him with a certain immense penalty.

Melie offers to help train Seth so he can become a pupil of Yaga, but unfortunately, handling magic isn't her strong suit. Luckily, Doc is talked into helping Seth develop his offensive magic skills.

As Doc is enjoying another peaceful afternoon drinking coffee, he's suddenly pulled underground through a manhole by a tentacled beast. This monster of the underground water system is know as the Devil Fish Kraken, and it just happens to love coffee.

Seth has rapidly gained more magical power, but he's gotten so used to it that his handling has grown sloppy. To teach him a lesson, Yaga forces Seth to wear gloves that prevent magic use and says that if he removes them, he'll be expelled.

A new recruit in the Inquisition notices that Captain Dragunov's attitude seems quite careless, and he can't understand why his men have such faith in him. He joined the Inquisition hoping to fight dangerous sorcerers, not handle odd jobs.

It's been a month since Seth parted ways with Alma. A festival is about to be held in Artemis Academy, and Seth is excited by the joyous atmosphere.

Doc has received a request to handle a job involving a Nemesis. He rejects it at first, but Seth is determined to go after the Nemesis and accepts the job for him. Thus Seth, Melie, and Doc depart for Rumble Town, the city that roars like thunder.

Seth, Melie, and Doc visit the house in the slums where the one who sent the job request lives. The family requested an investigation because their eldest son, Taj, has been infected, but their pleas for help are ignored by the Inquisition.
