Cencio (Alberto Sordi) is a professional thief. He has always known the beautiful Cesira who out of need supports him in his enterprises. The most sensational of these is committed against a goldsmith whom Cencio, disguised as a police marshal, even takes to prison. The couple is carrying out yet another scam, when there is a twist.
