Ned's Newt

Daydreaming youngster Ned Flemkin smashes his piggybank to buy an excitingpet, but various costly distractions en route to the store leave him with only enough money for a newt...which is utterly unresponsive until Ned feeds him some Zippo Newt Food, and discovers he's created a fast-talking, morph-a-minute monster.;When Newton discovers that bashful Ned has a crush on the little girl down the street, he spares no effort - or embarrassment - to unite the pint-size Romeo and Juliet.

Ned is happily building his class float for the annual Friendship Day Parade...until over-protective Newton finds out about a "competing" float and turns Ned's Humble effort into the Death Star on wheels.;When Ned's tattletale cousin Renfrew visits and gets Ned in trouble, Newtonsees a way to discredit him once and for all, by turning Renfrew into the Boy Who Cried Newt.

Ned's Mom throws out his rare Captain Ocelot action figure so he goes to the dump with Newton and searches through trash for it. He comes home with the doll, a truckload of recovered treasure, and really bad-smelling shoes. (The Dump Hermit turns out to be Captain Ocelot!); As Ned's Mom's birthday approaches, she admires a replica Sacrificial Peruvian Blood Alter Ring in a catalogue. "A replica?" snorts Newton slapping an Indiana Jones hat and leather whip onto Ned..."we'll get her the real thing!"

Everyone knows the moon is made of cheese, so Ned and Newton convert thefamily station wagon into a spaceship to find out of Mars is made of tomato paste.;Ned wants to go to the school dance with Linda, but not wanting to be embarrassed by his poor technique, enlists master of all footwork Newton as his tutor.

Newton takes a simple 20-home paper route which Ned got in order to save up for a bike, and turns him into the Rupert Murdoch of Friendly Falls.;Ned is asked by his one love, Linda, to go to the circus. So he saves his money, but it's a disaster, un-scary lions, skinny elephants, seals that can't balance, etc. Newton goes backstage at half-time to do some serious pep-talking and give his owner his money's worth.

Sunday night, Ned wishes he could go back to Friday to enjoy the weekend over again. Newton finds a time machine in the attic and when Ned an Newton step out of it onto an uncut lawn, they think they might have accidentally gone back to Thursday...until the first dinosaur walks by.;Ned attends a Jamboree, where Newton notices that some other kids have more merit badges than his owner. Not if he can help it...

The New Improved Zippo that Ned mistakenly buys makes Newton malfunction insome bizarre way (he can't control what or who he changes into); just when Ned's cousin Renfrew and his cat Bundle are visiting. Ned needs to find Zippo Classic, which is out of stock...so his decides to go straight to the source, Mega-Brands Corporate headquarters!;Ned is set to perform in the school pageant, but his staffsponsor/dramaturge is a would be writer who gives picky notes that slowlyturn "Little Red Riding Hood" into Mad Max and the Chicken-Wolf." (Newtonplays Ned's "agent" and his co-star).

Newton fills in for the baby-sitter and the Flemkin's go out to dinner,asking Uncle Frank to drive by and check on Ned. The Uncle, on his way to acostume party as Frankenstein, sees Newton's big shadow and tries the frontdoor. Ned and Newton, terrified by the Late Show, see the creature outsideand decide it must be kept outside at any cost.;When Ned's Dad inadvertently deposits Ned's lucky penny in the bank, Newtondecides to do the only sane and reasonable thing to help his owner...tunnelinto the bank vault and go through every coin to get it back.

Newton overdoses on television, then decides to drastically improve Ned'slife...using the hard-sell advice of 1 000 commercials as his guide.;Ned's on vacation with his Mom and Dad, passing the time with a dumb"Vehicle Bingo" game. When he gets left behind at a rest stop, he andNewton have to take every kind of transportation on his game (and plentymore) to catch up to the blithely unaware Flemkin's.

A world record held in Friendly Falls since 1959 (and immortalized in localsculpture, lore, and song) falls to a foreign competitor. The town isengloomed. Hiram Friendly offers a prize to anyone who can break a worldrecord, any record, for Friendly Falls. Newton and 101-plate-spinning,65-raw-egg-eating Ned to the rescue!;Ned's in the Friendly Falls Museum of Dusty Old Things with his class,moping about the scavenger-hunt-type questionnaire he has to complete beforehe can leave. Stowaway Newton finds some ancient Zippo in a Grecianurn...then finds a way of making the museum fun with his own unique versionof history.

Newton watches Bob Vila and decides Ned's tree fort could do with a little improving. Ned asks for, and eventually "borrows" an entire subdivision worth of wood from the construction side down the street.;Doogle's parents wonder aloud how his dog Lummox got fleas. "He just lies around, we have to get rid of 'em" -- but Doogle only hears this last part and figures it's curtains for Lummox. Newton feels for a fellow pet and pulls out all the stops to prove the mutt's worth. (He paints the house then puts the brush in Lummox's hand, plays a sonata then leans the dog on the piano, etc.)

Newton's not his normal self; something biological's going on, and he decides he's in love. Okay...with what? After a lot of soul-searching, Newton finds out he's not in love, he's only shedding his skin.;Track and field day looms at school, with it's promise of gold ribbons, and there has to be a sport in which Ned excels, but what is it? Newton becomes his coach and drags Ned through real and ridiculous sports in pursuit of his true athletic calling.

Ned's parents get the flu and Newton shows Ned that doing 100 household chores can be fun! Well, it starts out as a good idea.. (In the end, the chaos they manage to create causes Ned to feel kinda queasy himself!);Ned gets locked in the mall, distracted by an amok-running Newton and pursued by a crazed security guard.

On Take Your Child To Work Day, Ned follows his boring Dad to the office and discovers he's a top-secret government spy! (Or is he?);When Ned complains about the tedious summer ahead of him, Newton helpfully signs him up for the Army.

When Ned decides to climb a local hill to raise money for charity, Newton relocates him to Mount Everest to make some real money.;Newton learns what fate befalls newts in the Winter time and, rather than hibernate in the mud, decides to fly South.

Ned has to spend the weekend at his puritanical Uncle & Aunt's house while his parents attend a convention in exciting Gamble City. That is, until Newton gets bored too and decides to relocate to where the fun is.;Ned has the humiliating duty of playing the New Years Baby at the annual town pageant until a child is born in Friendly Falls closer to January 1st. Newton promises to arrange it.

Ned lands a small role in a horror film sequel that's shooting in Friendly Falls, only to find out that the horror is all too real.;Newton is enjoying a summer heat wave... until he realizes it's drying out all the ponds and puddles that his newt relatives need to survive. He decides to make it rain.

Ned goes into hospital for observation after a mild concussion. Well, it's mild until Newton shows up to nurse him back to health...;Ned and his friends collect 10,000 bags of pet hair for charity, while Renfrew plots their downfall.

Friendly Falls re-opens the Future World Fair, which was barely futuristic in 1964 when it was built. But what's tedious and stupid to Ned is a world of technological discovery for Newton.;Ned goes on his parents' Anniversary cruise - but, thanks to Newton, on the wrong boat.

At the Flemkin family picnic, Newton gets amnesia and thinks he is everyone's least favourite Uncle.;When the Flemkins visit Ned's grandparents on their farm, Newton, unfamiliar with the concept of retirement, decides to whip the animals and crops into shape.

Newton believes the Flemkins are going to move, and goes about persuading them their new home town is awful.;Ned tries to eliminate all the classmates sitting alphabetically between him and his beloved Linda Bliss.

Zippo falls into the hands of the wrong newt.;When Ned gets a job sweeping up at the local TV studio, Newton accidentally erases the weekend's pre-recorded tapes, and the duo have to perform all the shows themselves.

Convinced that Ned's invisible childhood friend is back, the Flemkins send their son to a child psychiatrist - then they see Newton themselves and take his place on the couch.;All the Ns, Es and Ds are missing from Ned's alphabet soup and he goes to the factory to find out why.

When Ned gets a cold, Newton shrinks and goes inside his body to cure him.;Newton misunderstands the meaning of Mother's Day, and presents his mother to Ned.

When Ned's parents cancel an exciting trip to the Big Apple because of a silly rumour about alligators in the sewers, Newton takes Ned on a quick trip to prove there is no such thing. Except, there is.;When Doogle's dumb dog Lummox goes missing, Ned and Newton become detectives to find him. But Lummox isn't at the Pound, he's become a professional baseball player.
