However, she is quickly drawn to the Blue Shift women who work on the factory floor, knowing full well her class-conscious parents would disapprove of any move by her to take on such a dangerous job.

The women at Victory Munitions must band together when the blame for an accidental explosion is laid at their feet.

As the Blue Shift bands together in the face of a surprise inspection at Victory Munitions, Lorna sees an opportunity to break off her affair with Marco. A series of thefts leaves Kate as the prime suspect and Gladys ready to do whatever it takes to find the real thief.

After the Blue Shift claims the honor of building Victory Munitions’ millionth bomb, a film crew arrives to shoot a recruitment newsreel, and management chooses tough-talking farm girl Betty McRae as its star. Gladys finally confronts fiancé James Dunn about his past.
