Having fled his native Sicily, Michele Cannaritta emigrates north and moves to the province of Bergamo, where he finds work as a waiter for a wealthy industrialist in the area. He is soon coveted by the landlady, her friends and the other waitresses. The door opens for him to make a quick social climb, but things will not go exactly as planned...
