Doctor Owen Springer rushes from London to Manchester to be with his ailing father. On the train, he borrows a phone from a well-spoken lady. They meet again later in a Manchester hospital.

Owen's obsession with Anna begins to dominate his life, even when she says she is not interested. He is eventually driven to devious means to try to win her over.

After rushing into Owen's arms upon discovering her husband's indiscretion, Anna begins to realize that she actually does have feelings for Owen.

Richard hires a private detective. Then, an argument between Owen and Richard results in a fist fight.

After the fistfight, Owen and Richard get hauled in front of the police and hospital executives.

Will Anna return to her husband Richard or make a new life with Owen?
