Miskina, Poor Thing

Surrounded by her friends and family, Fara contributes as best she can to organizing the wedding of her sister Safia and her groom Maxime. Meanwhile, their grandmother Rania refuses to leave the kitchen to join the ceremony. Fara is ready to do whatever it takes to avoid a family drama.

Though Maxime has fully embraced his newfound spiritual path since the wedding, Safia is extremely angry at her sister. Fara knows she’d better fix the damage she did if she intends to return to the family home. But this could prove a bigger task than she can face, especially in the middle of Ramadan, which she has decided to observe properly for once.

Things are getting serious between Nassim and Cherifa, causing Fara to grow increasingly jealous. Mariam urges her to reveal her feelings to Nassim because she risks losing whatever chances she still has. But first, she needs to stop by the junkyard with Damien to pick up what’s left of her food truck.

Fara is hesitant to join her group of friends for the France-Algeria match in the evening. The event reminds her of how her mother Najet, shown as a young woman in 1975, met her father Kader. It’s an opportunity to dig into the past and better grasp what’s gone wrong with the present.

Fara and Safia are in Oran, with two days to find a replacement for Rania’s traditional bread-baking dish. Fara uses this time to get to better know her Algerian family and the country, which irks Safia, who can’t wait to get on the next plane back. But things take a turn when they meet Aris, who becomes their local guide.

Safia has convinced Fara to drive through the region of Kabylia with Aris, who promises that it’s where they'll find a baking dish like Rania’s old one. Though the landscapes are stunning, Safia is flustered by their Kabyle guide. But what exactly are his intentions for the two sisters?

Fara and Safia are already in a sorry state when they land in France and are immediately faced with Rania’s funeral. The entire family is gathered in the Alaoui home, where Fara finds herself at the center of all the tension. In honor of her grandmother, she'll have to take charge for the first time in her life.
