When a student dies after a single punch from a cop during a bust, Jordan is reluctant to rule the blow as the cause of the young man's death. Hoyt seeks info from a landlady whose boarder appears to have been assaulted before being hit by a bus.

A reporter is found shot to death and Bug suspects he may have been murdered for trying to protect his source. Garrett tries to save the life of a hit and run victim, but finds himself the center of a wrongful death suit when the man later dies.

When a science-fiction author is found drained of all blood and with bite marks in his neck, Nigel encourages Woody to consider that a real vampire is the culprit. Jordan investigates the death of an unidentified man found on the Appalachian Trail.

When Jane Newman reports she shot and killed a man who assaulted her, police discover that the dead man is connected to Alex Dwyer, against whom Newman had a restraining order. A beautiful woman seeks special treatment for her dead husband from Bug.

Hoyt enlists Jordan's aid in identifying a body washed ashore after a bad storm. Garrett and Bug investigate the death of a plastic surgeon died after a surgery performed by his partner. Garrett also considers the dead man's wife as a prime suspect.

The story-line of this episode immediately follows the events of "Pandora's Trunk Part's I and II" and begins the day after Tom Malden is shot in her apartment . Jordan must prevent her father from being arrested for the death of Tom Malden.
