Alicia is assigned her first case after having to return to work following her husband's corruption scandal and incarceration. She quickly discovers that the retrial of a woman accused of murdering her ex-husband is not as straightforward as it seems.

Meanwhile, Diane decides to take precautions when a felon she successfully prosecuted is about to be released from prison.

As Alicia defends a husband accused of murdering the babysitter, she and her family prepare for the outcome of Peter's appeal and his possible coming home.
