In a misguided and monstrous gesture, Jamaican slave Frannie Langton is gifted to affluent scientist George Benham by the man who owns her, John Langton, and she is employed as a maid in the household much to her chagrin. When her employers are found murdered in their beds, house maid and former slave Frannie is the prime suspect and must piece together the events of that fateful night.
