Nicole Curtis begins renovating the Ransom Gillis House, a historic home in Detroit's Brush Park neighborhood. Despite years of neglect, she will attempt to restore the home to its former glory and salvage many original elements.

Now that walls are up and plumbing is roughed in, Nicole will tackle the kitchen and dining room in this iconic 1800s mansion. The new modern designs will keep the historic feel, but the renovation is still full of challenges.

Nicole begins revamping the living room and foyer, but things take an unexpected turn when she discovers what the original grand staircase looked like. She'll spare no expense to salvage as many original features as possible.

Nicole moves upstairs in the Ransom Gillis House to tackle the master bedroom suite. She plans to bring the master bedroom back to its original splendor with beautiful stained glass and antique trim salvaged from the house.

Nicole begins renovations on the iconic turret bedroom in Detroit's Ransom Gillis House. With most of the original framework missing, she will need help from a Brush Park neighbor to bring back this defining architectural element.

Nicole Curtis restores an upstairs mantel bedroom with the connected Jack and Jill bathroom in the Ransom Gillis House. She does her best to preserve the original details left in the space, such as the original slate fireplace.

Now that the front is complete, Nicole turns her attention to the back unit of the Ransom Gillis house. It has the same Victorian feel as the main house, and as long as the trades can work together, it should shape up beautifully.

It's time to focus on the exterior of the house, so Nicole gets to work on the new slate roof, iron cresting and stained glass windows. Then Detroiters line up to see the city's most iconic mansion restored to its original glory.
