Every November, more than 100 teams of backyard scientists from all across the country trailer their gigantic homebuilt catapults, air cannons, torsion machines, and trebuchets and flock to Delaware to compete in the World Championship of Punkin Chunkin, the most famous engineering-meets-produce competition in the world.
