The Last Journey of the Vikings

In the first episode we will find out why they left Scandinavia to become pirates.

As the Vikings attack the coasts of the Frankish Empire they encounter a different resistance than ever before. For the Frankish emperor Charlemagne has no plans to give up his Christian territory.

In the late 9th century the Vikings return to Francia. This time raiding gives way for integration. Through diplomacy and political marriages the Vikings are increasingly assimilated into Frankish society.

The year is 1066 and the Vikings are no longer involved in coastal raids or pillaging monasteries but in a power struggle for the throne of England. A historic event, which also will be the last battle of the Vikings.
