An untimely reminder from Siegfried about the responsibilities of his profession puts James in an impossible situation on his and Helen"s wedding day.

Siegfried and James lock horns over the running of the practice. Tristan helps a dog in an emergency and learns a valuable lesson about taking responsibility.

Siegfried receives upsetting news and channels his feelings into saving a young racehorse. James struggles to get farmers to agree to his newly adopted TB testing scheme.

James is given a last chance by the Ministry of Agriculture. Helen is keen to help but realizes that there is a much bigger problem at play.

Mrs. Hall leaves Skeldale House for the day, putting Siegfried and Tristan in charge of the house. Jenny makes an important decision without Helen for the first time.

James faces a choice that could cost him his job or put Heston Grange on the line. Tristan tries to take control of his future but goes about it in the wrong way.
