Semret is an Eritrean single mother who works at a local Zurich hospital and is studying to become a midwife. She does everything she can to ensure her child has a better life than the one she left behind in Africa. But when her now teenage daughter Joe begins to ask questions about her origins, Semret must confront the tragic memories of her past and relive her traumas as a refugee.
