Building a castle in Sunomata starts to go pretty well for Hideyoshi. However, they are then attacked by Saito's forces. Since Hideyoshi and the others spent the last three nights trying to build this castle with no rest, they are put in a difficult situation...

While the construction of Gifu Castle and its town are going as planned, Nobunaga, who is planning to head to the capital, summons Hideyoshi and Chidori. He orders them to go summon Takenaka Hanbee, who is currently enjoying a quiet retired life, to join their forces.

Takenaka Hanbee becomes Hideyoshi's strategist and tells them that in order for the Oda Clan to grow, they would need to acquire the road to Omi. Nobunaga then decides to offer his younger sister, Oichi, to Asai Nagamasa, a daimyo in northern Omi.

The previous Shogun's younger brother, Ashikaga Yoshiaki, wants to become the next shogun. He tells the Asakura Clan, who had been sheltering him, that he is going to go see Nobunaga.

After leaving the Asakura clan behind and coming to work for the Oda clan, Akechi Mitsuhide tells Nobunaga that he'll set up a meeting with him and Ashikaga Yoshiaki. Nobunaga agrees to this because he wants to take advantage of the shogun's authority.

Endo Naotsune, who is not very fond of Nobunaga, finds out that he is going to stop by to see his sister on his way to Kyoto and plans his assassination. Having no idea about this plot, Nobunaga and the others head to Sawayama Castle.

Nobunaga is headed to Kyoto and sends messengers to Rokkaku Shotei in southern Oumi, but he refuses to help in any way. Feeling like he has no other choice, Nobunaga heads to southern Oumi with an army of 60,000. However, the Rokkaku Clan had the 53 Leaders of Koga working with them.
