A ragtag team of FBI agents from New York are in East Africa investigating the bombings of two US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania that left 200 dead and thousands injured. When they discover a bomb-making house in a wealthy Nairobi suburb, it not only unveils the extensive influence of an elusive terrorist organization known as Al Qaeda, but also exposes their first major assault on the West.

A former associate of Whitey Bulger with a violent history will be released from prison, and the FBI suspects he’ll resume criminal activity. A roofer in South Carolina is abducted by members of a Mexican cartel demanding hundreds of thousands of dollars in ransom money for his safe release. Law enforcement determines the suspect has been transported across state lines, to North Carolina. The FBI deploys its formidable Hostage Rescue Team to locate the young man and apprehend his captors, ensuring his safe return.

In 2011, Somali pirates seize a yacht with four Americans on board. A joint operation involving the FBI and the U.S. Navy races to the scene to try to save the hostages. When the incident turns deadly, the FBI works with its international partners in Africa to track down the pirates’ lead negotiator. What ensues is a wild cross-continent manhunt for the mastermind behind the piracy plot.

The FBI’s New York field office is contacted by British intelligence with alarming info. An Al Qaeda-trained operative based near Denver has plans to carry out a devastating bomb attack in NYC. Agents track the suspect as he travels to the city and they learn he is not acting alone. With the anniversary of 9/11 looming, it’s a race against time to neutralize the threat and save countless lives.

In the lighting department of a Home Depot store on Long Island, a chilling discovery is made- an active and lethal pipe bomb. Law enforcement ensures the safe detonation of the device but through a ransom note and phone calls to the manager, the bomber promises another deadly attack.
