What Is Fatmagul's Fault?

Fatmagul lives with her family in a small coastal town in Turkey. She works as a milk seller and dreams of marrying her boyfriend, who is building a house to marry her. The town where they live belongs to a single family and its patriarch: Resan Yaseran, who has 3 children who are in bad ways.

Fatmagul is hired along with her evil sister-in-law for the engagement party of the eldest son of the Yasaran family. There she meets Kerin, a handsome young blacksmith who is struck by Fatmagul's beauty. Neither of them imagines that their destinies will be united forever.

Fatmagul's life changes forever when she is raped by the three rich men from the village. All of them belonging to the Yasaran family who under the influence of drugs and alcohol commit the reprehensible crime. The night this abominable event occurs, Kerim, an innocent man, does not participate in the event.

The police come to the Yasaran mansion because Fatamagül was last seen the night at the eldest son's engagement party. The evil Mukaddes Ketenci, Fatmagul's sister-in-law, unjustly claims him and tells him that everything is her fault. Kerim's mother calls her son and tells her the terrible news and her son breaks down in tears.

The skilled lawyer Munir of the Yasaran family visits Fatmagül's family and offers to help them in trying to manipulate the situation. Kerim's mother claims her son and tells him that he is incapable of doing something like that.

The lawyer Munir and Mukkades devise a diabolical plan to make the police believe that it was all Fatmagül's fault and blame Kerim for the alleged rape. Fatmagül learns that Mustafa has been seeking revenge against the rapists.

Mustafa burns down the house he built to live with Fatamagül and his mother asks him to forget about her once and for all and forever. Remith, Fatmagül's brother, defends his sister's honor. Fatmagül is forced to return all the wedding gifts when the engagement is broken. The lawyer insists that the only way out for Fatmagül is to get married to save her honor.

The police question Fatmagül and she withdraws the complaint against the Yasaran brothers. The cards are on the table. Fatmagül and Kerim will get married and it is final. Mustafa finds out about the imminent wedding and is willing to look for his supposed boyfriend.

The police warn Mustafa not to seek revenge because he could go to jail. The marriage takes place before the stunned gaze of all present. The family's honor is clean. Mukkades and the lawyer's plan worked perfectly. However, the newspapers talk about the scandal of the Yasaran family. Fatmagül asks Kerim to flee to Istanbul.

Fatmagül and Kerim take the plane to Istanbul and leave everything behind. Kerim meets up with the rest of the rapists and has a big argument on the Yasaran family yacht. Mustafa finds out that the Yasaran family lawyer has been behind all the moves and the forced marriage.

Meltem and Selim break off their engagement in the face of the scandal of the newspaper's headlines. Kerim's mother's neighbors ask her to leave town because he is as despicable as her son's bastard. Meanwhile, Mustafá tries to forget Fatmagül without success.

Mukaddes, Fatmagül's brother and his son arrive in Istanbul after putting the family business up for sale. Mustafa asks the lawyer for a job to work for the Yasaran family.

Patriarch Yasaran's mistress complains that he forgot his birthday. Mustafa goes on a trip to Istanbul to work for the Yasaran companies. Kerim learns of the death of the teacher Galip and mourns his death inconsolably. Mustafa meets a pretty girl named Asu who falls in love with him.

Resat's wife explodes with jealousy at the news that her husband is going on a business trip again. Kerim's mother visits her son in Istanbul and complains that she does not tell the truth about everything that happened. Fatmagül argues with Kerim's mother and demands an explanation of how he found her. The nephew exposes his uncle because he already knows that he has a lover.

Kerim decides to abandon Fatmagül because the situation is unbearable. Fatmagül is informed that she was injected with a medicine to prevent unwanted pregnancies. Mustafa calls Asu because she has run out of money. Kerim returns to his house, but prepares the hut outside the house so as not to see Fatmagül. Mukkades tries to spy on Kerim while he is taking a shower.

Mustafa spends the night at Asu's house. Melmet, Selim Yaşaran's fiancée, finds out where Fatmagül lives and goes to meet her to find out the truth. In the middle of the discussion, Kerim comes to Fatmagül's rescue and promises her that he will give her the answers to all of his questions about the news involving his fiancée.

Yural confronts his mother and she demands that he forgive her just like she did when he raped Fatmagül. Her mother Kerim gives Fatmagül a massage. Resat's lover calls Erdoğan and makes an urgent appointment.

Kerim receives a call from Yural where he assures him that that fateful night he did not rape Fatmagül. He did not remember anything because he was drunk and drugged by his brother Erdoğan Yaşaran. Kerim goes in search of the brothers and they are arrested because Yural is drunk and they find cocaine in his possession.

Kerim returns home after being detained for several hours. Melemet's father asks her and her fiancee to postpone the wedding. Kerim tries to talk to Fatmagül to explain that he did nothing the night she was raped.

Kerim and Fatmagül's nephew share more and more and the boy grows very fond of his uncle. Asu tries to get closer to Mustafa, but Mustafa cannot forget Fatmagül. Karim forces Fatmagül to get on a boat so he can talk to her and force her to listen to him.

Asu is kicked out of a restaurant because she was accompanied by a customer. Meryem, the Mother of Kerim defends Fatmagül from the evil Mukkades. Vural spends the night with Asu and a connection develops between them. Sibling crisis: Erdoğan and Selim argue very hard.

Fatmagül is pleased with the good news from Meryem, the Mother of Kerim, about the business. Kerim begins to do the paperwork to go abroad. Kerim informs Fatmagul that both he and Mustafa are going abroad away from her. Mustafa argues with the lawyer Monir and manages to see Kerim's face for the first time.

Kerim argues with the owners of the house where they live because they found out that they left town. Fatmagül calls Mustafá and Asu attends and imagines the worst. Kerim finds out and dies of jealousy.

Kerim receives the visa he was looking forward to by mail and informs him that he will leave a power of attorney for Fatmagül to process the divorce and be free forever. Rıfat Yaşaran dies of a massive heart attack. Erdoğan confronts his uncle for control of the company.

Fatmagül and Kerim receive Asu who manages to meet Fatmagül and inform Mustafa. With the death of Erdoğan's father, the company becomes a battlefield. Kerim goes on a trip to Belgium and leaves an emotional letter to Fatmagül where he tells her that he loves her.
