For 45 British teenagers, it's day one of Basic Army Training in Harrogate. For the next 22 weeks they'll leave their civilian lives behind and be known as 19 Platoon of Burma Company. At only 16 and 17 years old, they're taking on the challenge to become Britain's youngest soldiers. No other European country trains their soldiers this young.

    Our raw recruits are now asked to confront the realities of soldiering, and the difficult truths associated with it, chief among them the fact that they'll potentially be taking lives and risking their own. In the remembrance garden Padre Andrew Earle shows them a monument to all the former Junior Soldiers who've died since the college was opened over 30 years ago.
