During the Tang dynasty in the seventh century, the young Xuan Zang monk (Xiaoming Huang) is eager to know about Buddhism, so he begins his journey to India. During his journey, he struggles with all kinds of dangers, including natural disasters. He finally arrives in India and studies Buddhism.
