The Beverly Hillbillies

Jed pretends to be sick so that Granny can step into her doctor's shoes and feel more at home. Mr. Drysdale and his physician, Dr. Clyburn, get pulled into the ploy and Granny's mountain medicine is put to the test by a city doctor.

After Granny cuts off the top of Mr. Drysdale and Dr. Clyburn's hair for a homegrown remedy, Clyburn attempts to keep Granny away from the medical practice forever. Meanwhile, the Clampetts are looking forward to The Possum Day Parade, which, of course, is not celebrated in Beverly Hills.

Granny awakens everyone at the crack of dawn to plow the front yard for her new garden, while Mr. Drysdale, Miss Hathaway, and a stubborn mule, all try to stop her. Miss Jane then takes Granny to a large supermarket to show her how unnecessary it is to grow her own food.

Mrs. Drysdale recommends Elly for a highbrow finishing school with the hope that humiliating her will drive the Clampetts away. Instead, Miss Hathaway convinces the girls at the school that Elly is a fashion trendsetter. Elly invites the filthy rich Fenwicks over, mistakenly thinking they are destitute.

Cynthia Fenwick makes her filthy rich mother dress in the "Clampett Look" when they visit the Clampetts, since she thinks Elly is a fashion maven. That only reinforces the Clampett's belief that the Fenwicks are poor. Cynthia mistakes Jethro for royalty and Mrs. Fenwick mistakes Mrs. Drysdale for a cleaning woman.

Jethro decides he wants to go a courtin', so Jed gives him a little education in this area. Jethro develops feelings for an exotic dancer named Chickadee Laverne and brings her home to meet the folks. As it turns out, neither she, nor the Clampetts, understand what the other is saying.

Jethro believes he is in love with Chickadee Laverne, but Chickadee and the Clampetts still possess differing views as to what constitutes an "engagement." Meanwhile, Miss Jane attempts to woo Jethro away from Chickadee. As marriage appears to draw nearer, Jethro discovers a deal-breaking secret about Chickadee: she cannot cook.

An unemployed actor named J.D. Clampett, and his wife Opal, benefit from a clerical error at the bank, and suddenly find themselves $36 million richer. The Clampetts believe that Mr. Drysdale has forsaken them and taken their money. When Miss Jane figures out what has happened, Jake Clampett is arrested.

Newly discovered "cousin" Jake Clampett has everyone but Jed thinking about, and dressing up for, a role in a film that Jake wants to create. Mr. Drysdale comes to learn that Jed is planning to invest $10 million towards the production of the film, but Miss Jane conceives a plan to put a stop to the whole plan.

Elly bonds with the Thanksgiving turkey so the family cannot bring themselves to kill it. Mrs. Drysdale hires a pair of Indigenous chiefs to take a Thanksgiving picture, which puts Granny in a foul mood.

Mrs. Drysdale has a garden party and accidentally invites the Clampetts. The Clampetts end up back by the Drysdale's "cement pond" to handle the overflow of people at the party. A gunshot set off by Granny and her "rheumatism" medicine starts the real party. Curt Massey appears as the violin player.

Mr. Drysdale needs investors for his new real estate development project, so he enlists the Widow Fenwick, and aims to cement the deal by hitching her to Jed Clampett, who just so happens to be looking to find a mother for his daughter, Elly May.

Mrs. Schuyler-Potts expels Jethro from her school for being disruptive, and Mrs. Drysdale wants to lock up all of Elly's critters, leaving Granny to believe that her family has no friends in Beverly Hills. With all the recent calamity, the Clampetts begin aching for their old haunts back in Missouri.

In attempts to dispel their desire to leave Beverly Hills, Mr. Drysdale unloads lavish Christmas gifts upon the Clampett household, including a T.V., a boat, and a chimpanzee. Granny thinks the T.V. is some kind of fancy washing machine. Will Mr. Drysdale's succeed in his efforts?

Upon meeting her television idol, Western actor Quirt Manly, Granny is disappointed to learn that he is not the man she thought he was on T.V. when he visits the mansion. Even though Granny is disappointed, Elly gets along with Quirt just fine, and Jed tries to help Quirt become more of a man's man.

Upon seeing an escaped kangaroo cross her path, Granny mistakenly believes it is an oversized jackrabbit. This leads the others to suspect that she has had too much moonshine. Meanwhile, the Clampetts have a hard time getting food from Beverly Caterers.

Old love letters written by Jethro lead mountain man Lafe Crick and his daughter Essiebelle to travel to Beverly Hills from Missouri. Jethro is looking forward to marrying Essiebelle, until he sees how much weight she has gained. When Jed finds out that Essiebelle is in love with another man, he makes sure Jethro does not marry Essiebelle.

The freeloader Lafe Crick takes advantage of Jed's charity and schemes to get rich off the Clampett's wealth. Cleverly, Lafe manages to con Mr. Drysdale into giving him a job at the bank guarding Jed's money. When he finds out that most of Jed's money is not actually in the bank itself, Lafe concludes it must be buried behind the mansion.

Mr. Drysdale would like Elly to run for Queen of Beverly Hills. The Clampetts think the race for the Queen is an actual footrace. So, in the spirit of event, Granny wants to run, as well.
