JFK: Destiny Betrayed

Oliver Stone introduces this first chapter, giving background on the Assassination Records Review Board, created by an act of Congress following the controversy of his 1991 film, JFK. Going back to November 22, 1963, this episode explores the aftermath of President Kennedy’s assassination, and the early suspicions of his brother Robert Kennedy that more than one assassin was involved.

This chapter highlights bizarre anomalies in the medical evidence and key differences between the Warren Commission conclusions and the eyewitness testimonies of the doctors who tried to save Kennedy. The chain of custody for the supposed rifle and “magic bullet”-- vital to any proper murder investigation-- fall apart under closer examination.

This chapter examines Kennedy’s autopsy, from the inexperienced doctor who burns his notes, to the autopsy photographer who claims that photos have been altered. Flashback to the Cuban Missile Crisis and Kennedy’s intense battles with his military leaders. Who was Lee Harvey Oswald? This final chapter examines new evidence surrounding the accused “lone nut,” and his associations with groups tied to the CIA. After Kennedy is killed, the world mourns and consequences are felt around the globe as Johnson reverses course to disastrous effect, especially in Vietnam, Indonesia, and South America.
