A desperate car chase through San Francisco ends with Richard, Chase and the baby plunging into the icy bay. Angela learns the truth about a child she'd long thought dead, and Chao-Li falls down the stairs at Falcon Crest while trying to prevent Emma from killing herself.

Two people from Chase's past come to town and force Maggie and Angela to face some unpleasant consequences. Melissa tries to make peace with Lance, who moves in with Dina.

Nicole continues to harass Maggie, who decides not to press charges against Melissa. Angela makes Dan manager of the winery, and Melissa surprises everyone by becoming a competent manager of the spa.

Angela sends Lance and Dan Fixx to investigate Emma's new job. Vickie tells Maggie that she's pregnant by her compulsive gambler husband Eric. Lance and Dina are in a car accident. Maggie and Richard visit his newly acquired Nevada property. Both Richard and Remick offer to help Maggie meet Angela's demand for payment.

Angela forces Wilkinson to disclose Richard's acquisition of Eric's Nevada property. Emma agrees to write her autobiography, hires a manager and heads for Hollywood. Lance discovers that someone sabotaged his car. Vicki has a serious problem.

Angela and the mysterious Carlton Travis conspire to destroy Richard. Emma's writing a screenplay in Hollywood. Melissa brings Fixx along when she visits Cole and Joseph in Australia. Angela and Carlton Travis discover that they share a past history.

Carlton Travis kidnaps Richard and Angela. Maggie throws a birthday party for Richard's son. Melissa and Joseph get lost in the Australian outback. A nurse gets Dina to sign over Lance's $500,000 check to her. Lance suspects Frank Starr of tampering with Lance's car.

To rescue Richard, Angela seeks help from Lillian Nash, celebrated Washington hostess and wife of a Supreme Court justice. Melissa comes to Lance's aid when he is arrested for murder. A man that Fixx believes to be a thief has a surprise identity.

Lance risks his life to bring the real killer to justice, Richard helps the daughter of an old friend and Angela tries to destroy Melissa's vineyards.

While she ponders Richard's proposal and his involvement with Liz, Maggie joins Vicki and Eric in Monte Carlo. A would-be assassin continues to menace Liz. Melissa gets revenge on Angela. Lance rescues Emma from Hollywood producers and gives her a job writing an advice column for the newspaper.

On her return from Monte Carlo, Maggie is upset to learn that Richard and Liz have been traveling together. Eric cannot escape his gambling debts. Melissa experiences strange phenomena. The success of Emma's newspaper column disturbs Angela.

Angela throws Richard and Maggie a surprise engagement party during which Melissa makes an appearance clad only in a robe, Lance discovers an unpleasant reality about a charming new friend and Richard rescues Eric from making a bad mistake.

Richard and Eric search for Vicki, who vanished during the engagement party. Dan reacts badly to the arrival of a previously unknown half sister, Shannon tries to flee the valley when Lance starts questioning her and Angela tries to have Melissa committed.

The last codicil to Chase's will bequeaths "the key to Angela" to Melissa. Maggie accepts Angela's invitation to stay at Falcon Crest. Carly discovers just how dangerous Fixx's moneymaking mission really is. Richard's attempts to gain Vicki and Eric's release from Switzerland are frustrated.

Maggie reconciles with Richard. Vicki returns without Eric. Carly saves her half-brother's life. Angela plots to bring Lance and Melissa back together. Richard cannot prove his innocence to the government.
