Botswana is a country the size of France but with barely two percent of its population. It is dominated by the flat, arid Kalahari so is a land of little water. Wherever water does appear, it has a great impact on the environment. This series looks at three unique habitats in Botswana that stand in stark contrast to the Kalahari.

The endless, flat horizon of the Kalahari is broken in the east of Botswana by a range of rocky hills. The largest range is known as Tswapong and is home to the spirits of the ancestors of the Batswana people, the Badimo.
