Alaska: Battle on the Bay

With the soaring price of salmon as the backdrop, captain Leonard vows revenge on Tom, who also gets into a dispute with Luke. Meanwhile, Taran is motivated by a huge debt.

High-powered high-liner Taran fires up his boat’s dual jet engines to scour the bay and nets a promising first haul in Naknek. In Egegik, Luke and crew are dead in the water as they race to get the broken down Jimmy Jeff back in action.

Kicking off the fishing in the Naknek district, the Ferrigno family quickly sets the bar with a monster haul. A freak encounter with another boat causes a terrible reversal of fortune for the Thunder. And Luke and crew tangle with a rookie captain.

The darkest day of Captain Luke’s career turns to sunshine with some help from Mother Nature. Fishing starts strong for the Thunder, but after a series of empty nets they set out for risky territory.

Things look bleak for the crew of the Jimmy Jeff until Captain Luke’s risky move pays off. Leonard suffers from road rage as he tangles with one boat after another. The flow of salmon slows for the Intruder.

Alaska Fish and Game has declared open fishing in Bristol Bay. As Captains scramble for their share of the record salmon migration, Tom Walsh turns the tables on fishing partner Vince, while Leonard risks a season-ending third ticket from the police.

Luke and the crew come to the rescue of a fellow captain whose boat catches fire. Tom convinces Vince to change districts, while the Thunder crew blows off some steam.

As the Bristol Bay sockeye-salmon run comes to an end, captains battle for the last fish of the year and try to hit their season goals. Capt. Luke struggles to keep the Jimmy Jeff running long enough for him to hit 100,000 pounds.
