After spending months in a coma, Sonja awakens in the hospital, only to find her family divided. It soon becomes apparent that Sonja isn’t safe in the hospital and she is forced to flee with Lukas's help.

Sonja is in hiding but must take a risk to try and regain custody of Linus. Sonja has figured out who shot her and Lukas is ready to get rid of him, but Sonja discovers vital information that changes everything.

To pay off their debt, Sonja and Barry visit the goose farm and start up the Ek family business again. Nina is convinced that Zac is gone. Kattis is attacked by Rose, but it turns out to be a misunderstanding.

The Ek family gathers at Klara's house to convince a social worker that it is safe for Linus to move back home, but they receive an unwelcome visitor who abducts Sonja, causing her and Barry’s plans to go up in smoke.

Sonja arrives in Colombia and meets with Rosale's widow. Zac has been filmed saving Nina and his identity is revealed, so they decide to flee the country. Lukas tells Gustav who shot Sonja and Linus overhears.

His foster parents have discovered what Linus is doing and leave him to face the consequences. Barry and Kattis get married but the wedding is not the joyful occasion it should be.

Barry takes his revenge on the person who murdered his wife. Sonja arranges a meeting between El Largo and the Major at the Colombian embassy and continues with her and Barry's coup. No Time to Mourn (Gåsmamman) is based on Dutch series Penoza.

The meeting at the embassy turns into a hostage situation. Sonja accepts help from Gustav to escape and manages to get El Largo out too. Barry receives information from Sonja in a way she didn’t expect.
